GAME OVERVIEW

Race to get 1st Place and upgrade your ship along the way!
In a city overrun by a single corporation, your business as a ship mechanic comes under threat. You challenge the CEO to a series of races to free yourself from their relentless pursuit for a full monopoly over the whole city. Defeat the corporate lackies to race one on one against the CEO himself in the final race.

PROJECT DETAILS

Hyperdrive Evolution is my first solo 3D project and is also my final submission for my University course. We were tasked with creating a project which had at least 10 minutes of meaningful gameplay, and also displayed our chosen pathways skills, mine being Level Design.
GAME CONCEPT

This game was heavily inspired by two games: F-Zero and Wipeout. I was always fond of these styles of racing game and wondered what it would be like to combine these established titles into a creation of my own. During the first few weeks of prototyping I created a crude concept of a track and started testing ways of making the player stick to the track when defying gravity. During this phase I was also testing ways I could add a twist to the gameplay which is when I decided on adding a roguelike feature.
